In a recent development, farmers gained valuable knowledge on modern irrigation technologies through a successful training jointly conducted by the Municipal Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (MABE) Office of Tiaong, led by Engr. Charie M. Pagkaliwangan, in partnership with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) Quezon under the leadership of Dr. Ana Clarissa S. Mariano.
The program began with a discussion on the current irrigation situation in the municipality, along with important updates on Tiaong’s Local Agricultural and Fishery Mechanization Plan (LAFMP). This was followed by a comprehensive presentation from the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Division of OPA Quezon, which covered the key technical aspects of the Solar-Powered Irrigation System (SPIS), including its components, proper operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and efficient water management for irrigation.
Through initiatives like this, OPA Quezon continues to empower farmers by equipping them with modern agricultural technologies, helping build a more productive, resilient, and sustainable farming sector across the province /Angel Sabate
