The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said aftershocks were expected after a magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck off the coast of a town in Quezon on Wednesday July 30 in the evening.
In its earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs reported that the quake’s epicenter was located 93 kilometers east of Jomalig, Quezon, at 10:11 p.m. The earthquake was tectonic in origin and has a depth of 10 kilometers.
According to PHIVOLCS, Intensity III was reported in Quezon City, while the following instrumental intensities were recorded in the corresponding areas:
Intensity III: Jose Panganiban and Mercedes, Camarines Norte; Guinayangan and Infanta, Quezon
Intensity II: Ragay, Iriga City, Pili, Sipocot, and Sagnay, Camarines Sur
The agency added that the earthquake was not expected to cause damage to property /Hannah Amparo
