The Quezon Youth Policy Lab: Youth-Led Policy Development and Consultation Program was held on July 22 at the Cultural Arts Center (Bulwagang Kalilayan), Governor’s Mansion, Lucena City.

Organized by the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) under the leadership of Ms. Jennie O. Garcia, Youth Development Officer, the program opened with her welcome message. Board Member Jackelyn D. Delimos, SK Federation President, delivered a message of support, while Mr. Fourth Alcala represented Vice Governor Third Alcala during the event.

As part of the program, Mr. Jose Maria Niño T. Revadavia, Program Manager of DILG Quezon and Concurrent MLGOO of DILG Macalelon, discussed “Youth Participation in Governance and Policy Development,” emphasizing the vital role of young people in decision-making and public governance. This was followed by a presentation from Hon. John Joseph G. Aquivido, 3rd District Board Member of Quezon, on “Identifying Key Youth Issues and Community Concerns.”

Meanwhile, Ms. Joan Marciel Zeta-Decena, RND, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer, delivered a discussion on “How Nutrition Impacts Development,” highlighting the importance of proper nutrition in supporting the growth and development of young people. Atty. Monique Allen V. Loria, Attorney IV of the Quezon Provincial Legal Office, also conducted a session on “Policy Formulation and Writing of Policy Recommendations,” aimed at strengthening the participants’ skills in crafting effective policy proposals.

The activity was attended by Local Youth Development Officers (LYDOs), members of the Provincial Youth Development Council, PPSK representatives, SK Federation Council delegates, and youth organization representatives from various municipalities across Quezon Province.

The program aimed to strengthen youth participation in governance by encouraging young leaders to take an active role in policy formulation and consultation processes that address the needs, concerns, and aspirations of Quezon’s youth. /Lee Amion
