Rain will continue because of Habagat, but Kiyapo is no longer affecting PH

Admin July 27, 2026 1 min read

As Typhoon Noul (formerly Kiyapo) continues to move farther away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the southwest monsoon, also known as habagat, will continue to bring rain over portions of Luzon and Visayas on Sunday, according to the weather bureau.

Noul was predicted by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) to be 745 kilometers west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 140 kph and gusts of up to 195 kph as it moved northwestward at 20 kph.

Outside of the PAR, the typhoon is no longer directly or indirectly affecting the nation, according to the weather bureau, but the southwest monsoon is still bringing rain to a number of locations.

The habagat is predicted to cause sporadic rains in Pangasinan and Zambales, with moderate to heavy rainfall potentially causing flash floods or landslides.

Cloudy skies with sporadic rains and thunderstorms are predicted for Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Aklan, and Antique. The moderate to occasionally heavy rains could also cause landslides or flash floods.

Due to localized thunderstorms, the remainder of the nation will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with sporadic rain showers or thunderstorms.

Extreme Northern Luzon will experience moderate winds and moderate coastal waters, while the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas, according to PAGASA (PNA) /Mary Salcedo
