DSWD highlights anti-hunger and anti-poverty programs ahead of PBBM’s SONA

Admin July 27, 2026 1 min read

As of today July 27, The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) highlighted its major programs and achievements in combating poverty, strengthening human capital, protecting needy sectors, and responding to disasters.

DSWD made the statement ahead of the fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The Walang Gutom program is one of the agency’s main programs where the government provides food credits amounting to P3,000 monthly for families experiencing severe food insecurity.

As of current time, there are about 600,000 families who have benefited from the program. By the end of the year, the DSWD’s goal is to reach 750,000 food-poor households to be able to help more needy families.

Another part of the program is the Walang Gutom Kitchen, a program that provides hot and nutritious meals to Filipinos experiencing hunger. Over 300,000 meals have been distributed, operated in Pasay City, Cebu, and Zamboanga City.

At the same time, the DSWD continues to enhance the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) as part of its commitment to improving the long-term well-being of Filipino families. The agency reported that around 1.6 million beneficiary households have already exited the program after their living conditions improved.

The DSWD is also assisting the more impoverished sectors, including families raising children with disabilities, young mothers, and victims of online sexual exploitation /Hannah Amparo
